Individuals and families who are struggling to make ends meet may be qualified to receive temporary cash assistance through TANF. Otherwise known as Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, this program is designed for very low-income individuals who are unemployed or underemployed. To qualify, you must either have a child younger than 18, be pregnant or be 18 or younger and the head of your household.
